The Whittington History & Heritage Group was formed to research, preserve, and share the history of Old and New Whittington in Derbyshire — a village at the heart of one of England’s most significant historical moments.
Our work spans archive research, heritage interpretation, and community outreach. We maintain records of St Bartholomew’s churchyard, research the families and individuals who shaped the parish, and produce heritage materials accessible to all — including residents who are unable to visit in person.
We are currently working toward registration as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) and are pursuing a long-term lease on the Revolution House — the Grade II* listed building where the plot that became the Glorious Revolution of 1688 was hatched.
Our research draws on primary sources held at the Derbyshire Record Office, Chesterfield Local Studies Library, the National Archives, and private collections, including the archive of local historian Trevor Nurse.
